The starting point

RDS is Raquel Dias's brand for recipes and healthy habits. Raquel was my first client: I started by working on her blog in 2020. The recipes already existed; what was missing was helping the people who use them decide what to eat during the week, bringing the recipe search, the meal plan and the supermarket list into one place, without forcing anyone to create an account.

What was done

  • A catalogue with search by name or ingredient and filters by category and tag.
  • Recipes with adjustable portions and favourites.
  • A weekly plan by meal, with portions per recipe.
  • A shopping list generated from the plan, with quantities added up.

Decisions that made a difference.

No account required.

Favourites, plan and list stay in the browser of whoever uses it, so there's no personal data on the server.

A read-only catalogue.

The site reads the recipes from Supabase and writes nothing from the public page.

Installable on a phone.

It can be added to the home screen and opens like an app.

Data and privacy

Favourites, the weekly plan and the shopping list stay only in the browser of whoever uses them. The server holds just the public recipe catalogue, which the site only reads.
